About
Giusi Tsaousis, PT, DPT, PCES, NCPT
Giusi Tsaousis, PT, DPT, PCES, NCPT, SFMA is an orthopedic and pelvic physical therapist. She earned her doctorate of physical therapy at Hunter College. She started her career in orthopedics at Hospital for Special Surgery where she worked with orthopedic patients in various settings including, acute/immediately postoperative, outpatient for the geriatric population covering total knee replacement, total hip replacement, spinal surgery and in outpatient settings for sports injuries including rotator cuff repair, labral repair, patellafemoral dysfunctions.
After experiencing complications from the birth of her first child, Giusi was led to believe that her only option forward was to have surgery. Doing some research of her own and discussing the prognosis with a colleague, she decided to try pelvic therapy as an alternative to surgery. Within three sessions there was marked improvement and she no longer considered surgery as an option. This led her down a path of discovery and wanting to increase awareness to other women with similar experiences. She decided to pursue pelvic therapy as a clinician, eventually landing at NYU’s Center for Women’s Health, treating mainly prenatal, post-partum and perimenopausal diagnoses. She has been trained through Herman and Wallace as well as Women’s Health Training Associates. She is certified as a pregnancy and postpartum corrective exercise specialist and trained in pessary fitting.
Giusi is also nationally certified in Comprehensive Pilates rehabilitation marrying fitness with rehab in her treatment sessions. Her passion for Pilates was discovered while she was a client. She recognized the benefits of Pilates both for orthopedic and pelvic dysfunctions. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 children.
